Deciding on the reference images for your brooch
Now it’s time to talk about reference photos. Since every brooch is inspired by your pet or favorite animal, the reference photos you provide play a vital role in ensuring that the final piece perfectly captures the essence of your pet. To create a detailed and accurate mockup and beading plan, it’s best to provide two or three reference photos.
These images will help me create a precise mockup. Multiple angles and views give a fuller picture of your pet’s appearance, allowing for a more accurate and comprehensive design. With a range of photos, I can better understand the texture, colors, and unique features of your pet, leading to a more detailed and lifelike brooch.
For the most accurate and beautiful result, here’s what you need to know about choosing the right photos:
Lightning
Proper lighting is crucial when selecting reference photos for your custom brooch. Good lighting helps maintain the true colors of your pet’s fur and eyes, preventing color distortion that can occur in poorly lit photos. This ensures that the beads used in the brooch match your pet’s actual appearance. First photo is way too dark, so it’s impossible to see the true natural colors. In the second photo direct sunlight creates harsh shadows and some areas are washed out. Third photo is nice but indoor lightning creates it yellow.
Filters
Avoid flash and filters, use steady, natural light and refrain from using filters to ensure that the photos are an authentic representation of your pet’s features and colors.
Angles and facial expressions
Capturing Personality: facial expressions are a key part of your pet’s personality. Whether it’s a playful grin, a thoughtful gaze, or a serene look, these expressions help convey your pet’s unique character in the brooch. Choose photos where your pet’s expression is natural and reflective of their typical demeanor.
Tiny and grainy photos
Remember, I can only bead what I can see. Clear images provide a true representation of your pet’s colors, markings, and expressions. This clarity is essential for selecting the correct beads and creating a brooch that accurately reflects your pet’s appearance. Grainy photos lack the sharpness needed to discern fine details, such as unique fur patterns, facial expressions, and specific markings. With unclear photos, it's challenging to create a precise and lifelike mockup or beading plan.
